How does the Panic Alarm System Work?
The panic alarm system works wirelessly in workplaces so staff members can raise an alarm. This can be done in a number of ways including via a wall or desk mounted panic button or an alarm transmitter they can wear or carry or clip onto their belt. If the member of staff presses the panic button on any of these devices, a radio signal is transmitted.
This radio signal is picked up by the Central Receiver which features a number of indicators, a sounder and a reset button. Upon receiving an alarm signal, the corresponding indicator illuminates, and the sounder starts. The alarm is cancelled when the reset button on the receiver panel is pressed. We would usually recommend the central receiver is located in reception.
For lone working staff, the system also has an automatic tilt switch (man-down) function so if the device is tipped vertically over 60 degrees from standing for more than 15 seconds it will transmit out an alarm. There is also a reminder function and a 30/60 minute timer function, which prompts user intervention to prevent an automatic alarm from being activated.
